Ayo Tamakloe-Garr
Ayo Tamakloe-Garr was born and raised in Accra. When his family moved to Cape Coast, his fate to become a writer was sealed.1 His debut novel, The Wolf at Number 4, was published by Ohio University Press as part of its Modern African Writing series — a darkly funny, gothic-tinged story with a twist he's very sorry about.2
His short fiction has appeared in Flash Fiction Ghana and the Writers Project of Ghana, with more recent work in Nenta Journal and The Kalahari Review. He swears he's hard at work on his next novel.3 Oh, and he also writes terrible poetry about that one girl he met the first day of uni and never saw again.
His readers say he's drawn to the same handful of themes: identity, agency, loss, and the realisation that the eighties aren't twenty years ago anymore.4 He still lives, works, and dreams in Ghana.
